Brady loves blue, red and brown. He’ll tell you all about it, and he is as loyal as they come. So for his room, we decided to pull in those colors and go with a vintage sports theme. Kind of a nautical meets antique leather look.
As you can see, even Ivan, our pup, finds it quite inviting!
The Goal
You’ll see throughout my home I’m a big believer in sticking to one color palette. Continuity in color allows you to have fun when it comes to mixing textures, shapes, and patterns. It still looks “deliberate.”
From the striped lamp fixtures, to the bold nautical flag art on the wall, to the star patterned poufs, the same shades of navy and red help to pull the room together.
The Design
Somebody once told me, invest in furniture when they’re young that can stay with them through high school. We went with navy staple furniture pieces and an antique gold round mirror that pulled in the dresser hardware.
The Details
From “gently used” baseballs, to an antique leather vintage football, even painted red oars, we tried to pull through the sports theme. Pro tip: TJ Maxx/Home Goods is a haven for boys navy-theme rooms. A majority of the chotskies found on Brady’s dressers and nightstands were picked up in the “boy room aisle” at good ol’ Home Goods. Very reasonable too!
As in every room in my house, you’ll also notice white, red, and navy books help to give certain items height and add to the intimacy of varying compositions.
