It’s been a long, busy day, and it’s time to sneak upstairs to bed. Perhaps no better feeling than relaxing into a room that feels more like a retreat! Crisp, clean linens, fluffy pillows, dim lighting and perhaps a comfortable chair to curl up and read a book.
The Goal
I fell in love with a room we stayed in at a high-end resort hotel and mirrored several of our room features in an attempt to create a coastal vacation feel. The vertical mirrors, lux velvet curtains and dimmable lamps were all pages taken out of that hotel room.
The Design
Just one accent wall of trellis wallpaper creates a dramatic impact. The tall vertical mirrors strategically placed behind the lamps help to make the room look more expansive.
With all the white and beige neutral tones, I wanted to add lighter blue accents. Lamps are a perfect and often unsuspecting place to pull in accent color. You’ll also see similar shades of blue featured in the velvet curtains and accent pillows. I love adding solid bordered pillows to bedding that give off a resort-like feel!
The Details
We had to throw in a picture of the accent wall and built-in vanity shelves in the “her” bedroom closet. The bedroom closet is an appendage to the master bedroom.
I love the feminine feel of the floral wallpaper coupled with the vase of cherry blossoms. This is definitely the happiest room in the house for me! Not only because it stores my shoes, dresses and jewelry but I love the quaintness of the circle window that sits inside an attic-like room with slanted ceilings.
