In all my years of hosting dinner parties, never have I ever had a centerpiece more talked about than this giant wood taper candle holder! Really. When it was time to light the candles just prior to sitting down, our dining table was met with audible gasps from our excited dinner guests! Truly, the showstopper among all showstoppers.
And the best part?! The large wooden holder can be used for all your celebratory occasions! Birthday party wishes for all ages (Covid-friendly too!), anniversaries, even holidays. You simply change out the colors of the candles to your liking for each celebration!
By now you’re likely wondering where you can find this showpiece?! Etsy!! I’m a HUGE proponent of women supporting women. Perhaps no website features harder working, more talented entrepreneurs than Etsy! For those who’ve never visited the site, it’s a global online marketplace featuring independent creators of all types. You’ll start to learn that I go to Etsy often for lesser expensive “dupes” for all my creative needs.
Katelin Simmons Design is the BRILLIANT artisan that handcrafts these gorgeous masterpieces and even hand sands them to perfection. She is an absolute delight to work alongside, and her product is truly stunning. Her price point is also very reasonable for a statement piece that you will re-use again and again!
Katelin recommends the “Hyoola” brand no-drip taper candles, that can be found on Amazon. They’re reasonably priced and come in an assortment of colors. The “no-drip” is key as well if you want a cleaner look. Even more budget-friendly, Hobby Lobby carries these in an assortment of colors. They however, are not the no-drip kind (better suited for a quick birthday wish and pic)!
Now, to the numbers… For our dinner party, I hosted a party of eight, and ordered the largest version at 47” long to accommodate the length of my eight foot table. As for candle lengths, you want to buy 10” long for the first row, 12” for the middle row, and on the back row, Katelin suggests mixing between 12 and 14” taper candles.
As far as the vibe, I let a very neutral table setting allow the centerpiece to shine, pun intended :). White china paired with white linen napkins—and then the addition of taupe, gold and silver metallics. Not only was this simple palette found among the candles, but I also pulled in metallics with the antique silver plate chargers and distressed garland strands. I thought the traditional china setting called for timeless name place cards complete with gold calligraphy.
One last word to the wise: if you do keep the candles on your wood candleholder lit for a prolonged period of time, beware wax drips on your table. Pro tip: I have a natural wood surface table, and good old Goo Gone worked like a charm in removing both wax and any remaining residue. Another idea for protecting your table would be to lay down wax paper. You could even hide it under a pretty tablecloth!
Now, you are an expert in all things wooden taper candleholders! Make sure you comment below and let me know if there were some “ooo’s” and “aww’s” at your party upon lighting this showstopper!

So I bought the centerpiece and the candles. If you would just come to Charlotte and arrange them that would be great!
